Triethoxyvinylsilane 78-08-0
Triethoxyvinylsilane (CAS 78-08-0) is a clear, colorless liquid with a faint odor. It is a vinyl-functional silane that is used to improve the bond between glass fiber or mineral fillers and resins that are reactive towards the vinyl group. It is also employed to functionalize resins via free radical mechanisms-copolymerization or grafting and to modify surfaces.
Triethoxyvinylsilane is a versatile compound with a wide range of applications. It is used in a variety of industries, including:
- Construction: Triethoxyvinylsilane is used to improve the adhesion of concrete to glass fibers and other materials. It is also used to modify the surface of concrete to make it more water-resistant.
- Coatings: Triethoxyvinylsilane is used to improve the adhesion of coatings to substrates and to make coatings more durable. It is also used to modify the surface of coatings to make them more water-resistant and to improve their UV resistance.
- Adhesives: Triethoxyvinylsilane is used to improve the strength and durability of adhesives. It is also used to modify the surface of adhesives to make them more water-resistant and to improve their UV resistance.
- Plastics: Triethoxyvinylsilane is used to improve the strength and durability of plastics. It is also used to modify the surface of plastics to make them more water-resistant and to improve their UV resistance.
Triethoxyvinylsilane is a safe and effective compound when used as directed. However, it is important to note that it is flammable and can cause eye and respiratory irritation. It is also important to wear gloves and eye protection when handling triethoxyvinylsilane.

Features and uses :
- Used to prepare moisture-curing silane cross-linked polymers, such as silane cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE), to make thermoplastic resins and thermosetting resins have better heat resistance, acid and alkali resistance and more excellent mechanical strength.
- Used to prepare silicone-modified polymers such as silicone-modified acrylic emulsion, silicone-modified styrene-butadiene latex, etc., to improve the hydrophobicity and adhesion of polymers.
- It is used to improve the binding force, compatibility and adhesion of inorganic powder materials to polymers.
- As a coupling agent, it is suitable for polymer types such as polyethylene cables and wires, and is often used in glass fiber, plastic, glass, cables, ceramics, rubber, etc.
- As a crosslinking agent, it can be used in silane crosslinked polyethylene cables (wire, cable insulation and sheath materials), pipes and films.
